Outlet Inspect Direction

  1. Make sure the outlet is powered. Unplug all devices from the outlet or the extension cord you want to test.
  2. Insert WIRECARE Plus into the outlet or the extension cord you want to check.
  3. Wait about 10 seconds, and the screen will show the test results.
  4. Press the retest button to run another check.

Data Display

  1. Resistance Values Shown green when resistance value of electrical wires is below 0.75Ω; shown orange when the value is between 0.75~1.5Ω; shown red when the value is 1.5Ω+
  2. Frequency Frequency is measured in hertz (Hz)
  3. Power Loss Rate Estimate the proportion of electrical loss
  4. Outlet Wiring Check whether Live, Neutral & Earth wires are installed correctly

Hidden Power Loss,
Real-World Risks

Power Loss Rate is energy wasted through aging wires or poor commections. It can raise fire risk - and silently increase your electricity bill.

⚠️ HIGH POWER LOSS - HIGHER RISK + HIGHER COST Check if your outlet are safe now

Three-colored Indicator

Based on the resistance value, represent the risk levels using three different colors. Inspect outlets every 3-6 months to ensure electrical safety.

  • GoodResistance Value: 0 ~ 0.75Ω
  • Need to CheckResistance Value: 0.76 ~ 1.5Ω
  • DangerousResistance Value: > 1.51Ω
*Red-light outlets must be immediately stopped from use and repaired by a professional.

Why do outlets get hot?

Outlet Wiring Status

Incorrect wiring may result in equipment damage or electric shock.

  • Open Fire Wire
    (No power)
The device cannot power on, and the outlet has no electrical current.
  • Correct Wiring The outlet works normally, allowing for safe use of electrical devices.
  • Open Neutral Wire The electrical device may receive power but cannot function properly, potentially causing the device casing to become electrically charged.
  • Open Ground Wire when a fault occurs, electricity cannot be directed to ground, increasing the risk of electric shock.
  • Reversed Hot and Neutral Wires Even when the device is turned off, it may remain electrically charged, increasing the danger of electric shock.
  • Reversed Hot and Ground Wires Extremely dangerous situation where the device casing may become directly electrified, creating a severe risk of electric shock.

GFCI Test Direction

Test GFCI electrical safety devices, and ensure that the power can be cut off immediately when your electricity is leaking.

  1. Before testing, turn off all devices connected to the power line to avoid damaging them.
  2. Press and hold the GFCI test button for 3 seconds. The screen will ask if you want to proceed with the test.
  3. Press the test button to start; press the GFCI button to cancel.
  4. After pressing the test button,
if the power trips, the GFCI is working correctly.
If nothing happens, either there's no GFCI installed or it's faulty.
*Test only when wiring (L-N-E) is correct.
*Get permission before testing in public places.
*If the GFCI is faulty, contact a professional electrician for inspection.

Error Explanations

Under these circumstances, the product cannot function properly.

⚠️
Overheating
When the system detects a working temperature above 60°C (140°F), it shows "overheating" and stops detection. It will automatically retest once the temperature has cooled down.
⚠️
Out of Detectable Range
Due to fluctuations in power supply, if the outlet voltage is below 90V or above 250V, or if the frequency is below 40Hz or above 70Hz, it will display this information and stop detection.
⚠️
Malfunction
When the system detects malfunction of its internal load resistance or its MOS switch, it will display "Device malfunction" and stop normal detection.

Precautions

  • This product is not waterproof. Keep away from water, fire, direct sunlight, and store in a cool, dry place.
  • The bottom has ventilation holes. Slight warmth is normal during use. Unplug after testing. The device will stop detection if it gets above 60°C (140°F).
  • GFCI testing requires correct wiring.
  • Turn off connected devices before GFCI testing to prevent damage. Get permission before testing in public places.
  • If outlet wiring is incorrect, consult a professional electrician.
  • Incorrect wiring will only show L-N voltage. Correct wiring will show L-N, N-E, and L-E voltages.
  • High-power appliances on the same circuit may interfere with results. Remove or turn off nearby high-power devices before testing.
  • This product is designed for sinusoidal AC power from utility companies. It can't be used with non-sinusoidal AC sources like inverters or UPS outputs.
  • Power Distribution Units (PDUs) with surge protection or current-limiting features may have high line impedance, and WIRECARE Plus is unsuitable for using on circuits with upstream filtering.
  • To prevent electric shock, plug the product power cable into properly grounded electrical outlets.
  • Over 6 years children can use the product with family and adults.
  • Keep the product away from extremely hot or cold temperatures to ensure that it is used within the specified operating range.
  • Clean the product with a soft cloth, and Do Not use liquid as cleaner.
  • Long-term exposure to moisture can damage the display screen.

Q&A

A:No, WIRECARE Plus goes beyond checking socket wiring - it measures impedance conditions in both sockets and circuits, providing detailed data readings. It can also perform GFCI testing; WIRECARE Plus is a convenient, versatile, and precise diagnostic tool.
A:Please test all sockets. Since each socket has a different usage, the condition of wearing will also vary. Testing only one socket will not detect the status of all other sockets.
A:YES, WIRECARE Plus can be used in countries using 100-240V/50-60Hz. However, a travel adaptor itself is a load impedance. Therefore, the quality and status of the travel adaptor can also affect the testing result. To ensure measurement accuracy, we strongly recommend using the original dedicated cables provided by the manufacturer. These cables are meticulously designed and tested to optimize the performance of WIRECARE Plus products. Using non-original cables may compromise signal integrity, potentially affecting the precision and reliability of measurement results.
A:We recommend testing your sockets and circuits at least once a month, especially in times with high power usage(e.g. summer, winter).
A:The PDU (Power Distribution Unit) is equipped with the circuit protection function against lighting and surge, or current limiting, such as common-mode or differential mode filter circuits. It has electrical impedance, which leads to high electrical impedance in the test result of such circuit.
A:
WIRECARE Plus is a smart device specifically designed to detect the safety of outlets and electrical wiring. Its operation principle is as follows:
It uses an electronic switch (MOSFET) to control the power on and off.Alternating current (AC) is converted into a more measurable form via a bridge rectifier. Two sets of precise sensors (analog-to-digital converters) simultaneously measure the voltage values across the load resistor.
The system automatically calculates:
  • Impedance voltage difference
  • Load current
  • Circuit impedance based on series circuit principles
Based on the measured impedance values, the system determines whether the outlet and electrical wiring are within a safe range.
